Ancient Alfama & elegant Chiado
During this guided walk, we will visit beautiful neighborhoods of Lisbon’s historical center. Each of them has its own unique architecture, history and legends.
This is the one of the most beautiful and ancient neighborhoods of Lisbon. The strongest earthquake in the kingdom of Portugal happened in 1755 century. The result of this earthquake was a destruction of Lisbon. Only few districts weren’t destroyed and Alfama was one of them. Because of that it saved its medieval architecture and charm. Magnificent views, narrow streets and ancient walls are awaiting you here.
If Alfama is the oldest Lisbon district, than Chiado could be named the most modern one. Originally, it was one of the neighborhoods, which were built by Marques Pombal, when he rebuilt the city. However, soon it became a popular place for the bohemians. Actors, writers and poets spent all their free time there. Even nowadays, some of their favorite sites are still open and waiting for the new guests.
