Palace of Queluz – Palace of Mafra – Typical Village of José Franco – Ericeira
Our trip will be to the suburbs of Lisbon. There we will visit two marvelous palaces, Portuguese village and coast of Atlantic Ocean.
Palace of Queluz
This is the latest Rococo style Palace built in Europe. It is, also, known as Portuguese Versailles. However, it was a summer residence, so it is smaller than the French one. Fabulous palace and romantic gardens with their labyrinths are waiting for you.
Palace of Mafra
When Palace of Queluz was a summer residence, Palace of Mafra was built as the permanent one. King John V of Portugal wanted to move royal court from Lisbon to Mafra, so the palace size is enormous. The library of Mafra Palace has one of the biggest collections of books from 14th to 19th centuries.
Typical Village of José Franco
Do you want to know how people were living in Portugal in the first half of 20th century?
It is possible to see it here with your own eyes. For few decades, famous Portuguese potter and sculptor Jose Franco was building miniature village, which looks like one from his childhood.
Ericeira
At the end of our trip we will visit Ericeira, popular town near the Atlantic coast, where we will admire spectacular ocean views.
